When Digital Dragons was held for the first time, the event gathered plaudits from the media and game developers as the best Polish games industry. Last year Digital Dragons confirmed its position among international industry events gathering more than 1100 participants, about 500 game developers, and 92 speakers from 27 countries.
Its main organizer is the Kraków Technology Park (KTP). It supports technological development of Małopolska Region and development of entrepreneurship, and promotes innovation and new technologies. It is a joint venture of State Treasury, Krakow municipality, Malopolska region, Jagiellonian University, Technical University of Kraków, AGH University of Science and Technology, and Mittal Steel Poland S.A. The company manages a special economic zone covering 707 ha. Moreover, it enjoys the status of a technology park.
One of the most significant forms of operation of Kraków Technology Park is provision of support to businesses at all stages of their development. The KTP incubator provides a perfect place for young creative people considering starting their own business, operating in the ICT or engineering sector, and seeking an appropriate environment for their ideas and themselves.
Krakow Technology Park focuses on information technology and creative industries therefore game industry is one of the main initiatives. KTP is a leader of Digital Entertainment Cluster, an initiative currently associating over 20 entities from around Poland focusing on bringing together the game developers and their collaborators, promoting the gaming industry in Poland and abroad, enhancing cooperation between the industry and scientific institutions and creating favorable conditions for new video games related investments in Poland. Krakow Technology Park organizes regular industry meetings and workshop dedicated to game professionals with national and international experts. It cooperates with best Polish universities - Jagiellonian University, University of Science and Technology to promote and enhance game industry among students and professionals on local level.
